Dr Alex Edwards

Specialist Clinical Psychologist in Hertfordshire.

Dr Alex Edwards specialises in promoting the well-being of children and young people with autism and ADHD.  Drawing on extensive knowledge and experience of supporting people with neurodiversity, she values a personalised approach and creating a positive warm and caring space for individuals and families to explore concerns and develop skills and strategies that work for them.

For those seeking assessment for possible autism, Dr Alex Edwards works with a specialist multi-disciplinary team of highly skilled clinicians. All assessments are completed in accordance to NICE Guidelines. As a service, we specialise in providing a supportive and collaborative approach to our assessments,. We have experience in supporting children who may struggle to attend formal assessments by working flexibly and providing pre-assessment support. We also have extensive experience in the assessment of girls with autism.

Face to face appointments are usually held at the lovely setting of Wheathampstead Wellbeing.

Dr Alex Edwards is also able to provide ‘walking and talking’ therapy for people who may benefit from this way of working. The British Psychological Society describes this therapy as “an evidence-based approach. It is typically used to combine the conventional outcomes of indoor therapy with the known benefits of connecting with the natural world.”  Walking and talking therapy can be particularly well-suited for people with autism or ADHD who may find the social demands of traditional talking therapies too much and who benefit from the emotional regulation walking helps to provide.  Please contact the The Oak House Studio for more information. Monthly Wellbeing Walks for young people and their parent/carer are also run once a month in collaboration with the local charity SPACE and can be booked directly through the SPACE Events page.
